Qatar: Residence Visa likely on arrival at new airport
21 april 2011
The Qatar Ministry of Interior is working on new rules that would allow foreign workers entering the country to complete all paperwork for receiving a residence permit when they first arrive at the airport. The service should be ready by the end of 2012, an official said, and would include fingerprinting, a medical exam, and issuance of the permit and ID card. There are also talks underway about establishing permit service outlets at the offices of some large companies that recruit many foreign workers, the official said. The current process takes several weeks and trips to several different facilities to complete all of the steps.
